It is an age old debate….the shower vs. bath deliberation. Shower enthusiasts will make you believe that it is much more hygienic to shower than to bath. Avid bathers will let you know that bathing relaxes you and makes you a better person.
Here is why we think it is better to shower:
Taking a shower is much faster than taking a bath. If you are in a hurry, and we bet you are most mornings, a shower will get you up and ready to go much faster. Instead of waiting for the bath water to fill up, you basically turn on the tap and walk straight in. No waiting and no falling asleep while soaking in the bath.
On average, showers take less water and energy to heat than baths do. There are off coarse those who spend hours in a shower and this argument does not apply to them. According to a recent study, the average eight-minute shower used 62 litres of hot water, compared with an average bath’s 80 litres. A quick shower, and the key word here is quick, does more for our precious natural resources than taking a bath.
One of the more contentious and sensitive points of the debate is whether you emerge cleaner from a shower or cleaner from a bath. Some will argue that you need to soak in a bath to get rid of all the dirt and dust. Others will say that soaking in your own dirty water is unsanitary. Many doctors will tell you that the biggest cause of ear infection is putting you head and ears in your own bath water. We rest our case.
Showers take up less space and you can add a small closets size bathroom to your home by fitting it with a shower, basin and toilet…..a fully functional bathroom in a very small space.
It is much easier to wash your hair in a shower and you can count on the fact that there is no soap residue left in your hair when you step out of the shower.
